A Bibliophile's Persuasion

In honor of World Poetry Day…DORMANCY

beachpic

I peacefully walk along the dawn of sleep’s languid shores. A willing participant…basking in the place where I find safety.

The dominatrix that life has become finds me and rouses me from my hiding place.

I wake and realize that more than a year has passed, ten years even, since my eyes have witnessed anything other than their watery womb.

Events have happened, seasons have passed, people have changed, and I only have snapshots from the place of in between…

The place where it is not asleep but not awake.

And the thing that haunts me, the cloud that covers, the burden I bear comes rushing in like an avalanche that overwhelms…

Overwhelms and suffocates…encasing me in a tomb of my own making.

Mere existence is unbearable…unfathomable.

What is the plan? What is the purpose?

So the cycle ensues and the death that rescues, once again, is embraced…and I am taken…taken back to the sanctuary…to the deep refuge…that place of suspended torpor…the only place where peace can be found.
